3 in 10 Brits have never donated to charity says YouGov

Nearly three in 10 British people (29 per cent) have never donated money to charity, according to new YouGov research.

The most popular reason for not donating according to YouGov’s What motivates charitable giving report was a distrust of charity management.

Some 32 per cent said too much money goes toward administration of charities rather than on their causes.

29 per cent said they had never donated because they could not afford to, while 28 per cent said they prefer to donate in other ways – through volunteering or donating goods to charity shops.

7 per cent said they believed the state should do the work of charities through taxation and again 7 per cent of respondents explained that they do not believe in giving to charity.
